Underage Festival 2008
Dedicated festival-goers , Milla & James, speak out on the importance of the festival that's built specifically for the under eighteen crowd.
"I think it's really important to have an Underage Festival because it is amazing to go somewhere and have such an immense time and feel so totally safe! I went last year and it was my fist gig ever, let alone festival, but I made my parents read up about it and they finally let me go. You meet some wicked people from all over the country. This year I got to know people from Reading and Yorkshire! It's also the best way to showcase new bands, and for us to see who we reckon will make it big in the next year with our support!" - Milla
"The best bands I saw this year were Foals and Cheeky Cheeky and The Nosebleeds! The crowd was just mental! In Foals, the guy next to me passed out! And meeting some of the bands was definitely the highlight of the festival! It was such an easy-going day. Band members were happily walking around and willing to meet their fans! I met three of the boys from Cheeky Cheeky, Jack Bevan from Foals, Kid Harpoon and Frank Carter!" - Milla
"A bunch of us went to Underage last year too, and I went to the first Z008 festival in Port Lympne this year as well. It was good but so badly planned that bands were dropping like flies! Not nearly as slick and perfect as Underage!" - Milla
Conclusion: "Underage was an awesome day out! It's the best environment for young kids to see live music in!" - Milla
"The best band I saw this year was definitely the Foals. Stupidly amazing, it was crammed and far too hot in that tent but it just added to the amazing atmosphere. They were sublime last year, and even better this time, now I actually knew some of their songs! - James
"It is important to have an underage festival because so many gigs don't let in under 18's or under 16's or whatever, and its annoying because you are no less of a fan if you are below that age, just unfortunate. When a really good band comes round locally but you can't get in (without sneaking in, which i've done on occasion) it is incredibly frustrating to be turned away, so in a way, it's a chance for us to get our own back on the older generations!" - James
"The best thing about the festival is the bands obviously, but the amount of free stuff sponsors gave us was pretty cool. I managed to get on sky news and some BBC program from it. So its cool that is has national attention." - James
"I live just outside of reading, but I've never managed to get the money together to go to the festival. A great thing about underage was that it was only £20. I've paid that much to see one band, and Foals are so good I'd happily pay that much, so G4B, Dizzee Rascal, The Maccabees and all the rest was just a bonus for me." - James
Conclusion: "Bring on UNDERAGE 09!!" - James
